The Hidden World of Laos

A never-never land of rainforests, rivers, and waterfalls!

Travel Laos from Chiang Rai by boat to the World Heritage City of Luang Prabang, up to Vientiane, and then on to the south and the very tip of the country. Along the way, you can get to know the people, visit Laotian remnants of the Angkor dynasty, take a variety of boat rides along the Mekong, see some of the world's most spectacular waterfalls, and stay at wonderful small palaces and inns. Of course there is also time for exploring the villages to find wonderful silk weavings, shopping for silver, carvings, and precious stones. You may even want to have some Laotian shirts or skirts made.

Day 2	Boat trip to Pak Ou Caves and local village. PM visit National Museum, wats and Ok Pop Tok. BL
Day 3	Visit Kouang Si Falls, local villages and Caruso Lao. BL
Day 4	Cooking class, touring in Luang Prabang and sunset on Mt. Phousi. BL
Day 5	Drive Phonesavan visiting different villages en route. BL
Day 6	Visit Plain of Jars, Muang Khoun and Tai Phouan. BL
Day 7	Visit local markets, including the Talat Hmong Market and villages. BL
Day 8	Visit UXO. Fly Vientiane on QV 402 (1440/1510). Met and taken to hotel. Visit Pratuxai Park and enjoy sunset. BD
Day 9	Tour Vientiane. BLD
Day 10	Fly Pakse on QV 512 (0630/0745). Drive across Bolaven Plateau visiting villages and waterfalls. BL
Day 11	Drive to Don Khong Island, via Um Muang, and a ferry boat. PM visit the island. BL
Day 12	Boat ride to Don Det and Don Khone, visiting village, Li Phi Falls. PM free. BL
Day 13	Drive Pakse visiting Khone Phapeng Falls and Wat Phou. BL
Day 14	Drive to Ubon Ratchathani and see the Pha Taem Cliff Paintings. Fly back to Bangkok on TG 031 (1745/1850). B
